Things I Bought That I Love: Gap 1969 Snakeskin Print Legging Jean

The legging jean has ruined life for me. I don’t remember the last time I wore proper jeans. And jeans without stretch? What are those even? Gross.

I, like most Americans, love the Gap. Besides having Christmas ads that single-handedly usher in the season without annoying people (like no other company has ever done), they have the best basics at the best prices.

Isn’t that cozy and Christmas-y looking, but like, urban and cool too? Like a Christmas scene from a 70’s Woody Allen movie. I also love buying a statement piece here, like a pink patent belt or neon green tshirt, or anything trendy, so if I only wear it once (or never) it’s not like I’m out of a ton of money.

And these snakeskin print legging jean are the definition of trendy.

Now, considering that I think leopard print is a new basic, I personally think these aren’t so outrageous. Throw on a black sweater or blazer and some statement earrings and you can probably go to work, and then a party afterwards in these. I also think they’d look great tucked into black boots. Or with a deep red tunic sweater over them.

Guys, come on. They’re $69.50. Try them!

Good for: fun fashion girls and thin gay dudes.

  1. I had been window-stalking (er, shopping) this particular pair of leopard print bottoms for a couple of weeks. Definitely going to buy them now. And I’ve got the purr-fect pair of shoes to go with them :)

  3. I <3 the GAP, too…

But don't you think that Amy and Will look like they've been tied up at the neck and are waiting to be murdered by Buffalo Bill?

  4. bahahaha! it’s sad that my first thought was “no, Mindy, the Gap is expensive!” You are totally right about the Christmas ad thing though- apt observation!

  5. I am so glad you used that pic of Amy Poehler and Will Arnett. I loved that ad a few years ago! And can I just comment on your “thin gay dude” comment? It is so true that thin dudes, gay or not, rock stars or wannabe’s all rock this look. But why do they have to have the crotch sagging to like mid-thigh??? Iam confident when I say the package doesnt need that much room, you know what I mean?? The pants may be tight, but hey, they are stretchy and comfortable. My big butt feels comfy and warm in them so whats the deal? Why do they need so much hanging room down there!?! It is gross…I am just saying.

  8. Yeah, what is this thing about leopard being a new neutral? I think I’m into it? Question mark? In any case, I’m into the snakeskin jeggings, and totally into your blog. Consider me a daily consumer. Keep ‘em coming.

  10. Okay, BE HONEST! What is the largest size which can get away with wearing these? I can handle the truth.

  11. I have the same hair issue as a fellow Asian lady, have you (though assume you have) tried Bumble and Bumble shampoo & conditioner?

It makes my hair less greasy and gross then it would with normal shampoo for people who do the work.

  12. Yay, snakeskin print jeans. I snagged a pair of Habitual snakeskin print skinnies at Swirl a few weeks ago and lurve them. (Here they are in action: http://www.closet-coach.com/2011/10/05/outfit-post-skinny-cobra/). Not quite as skinny as the Gap pair but then again, a Gap model I am not. Although apparently I am a “fun fashion girl.” (Please?)

@Chelsea: Leopard is totally a neutral. Don’t ask me why. It just works.

  13. Mindy. My hero. I went to the Gap today, and bought not one, but TWO pairs of faux snakeskin jeggings – black AND brown. I feel like a sassmuffin and I have you to thank.

  15. I just bought my my first pairs of jeggings and I got the 1969 Gap ones also (but not snakeskin) and WOW. I too am ruined. I tried to wear a normal pair of jeans the other day and couldn’t handle it now that I’ve felt the joy of the jegging. I also don’t know how Gap manages to make them so flattering…I call them my magic pants!
